Change the way you look at the world.

Updated: Aug 16, 2020

What is perspective? How should my perspective towards my life be? Why is a perspective so important to have? Perspective is your point of view, the way you view things and the type of mindset you have. Perspective is what gives an overall impression about you. It's what helps you think either positive or negative towards a particular view, subject or person. It shapes the outcome of your efforts and helps decide the next step you take.

Dr. Wayne Dyer, a motivational speaker and the author of - Happiness is the way, Manifest your Destiny and many more once said,

"If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change".

This further elaborates on how your view and your perspective play a key role in how and what you think on certain topics and situations. Growing up, you have a very positive outlook on your life because you're a child, you live freely and have no worries in the world. But what happens when we start to grow older? In your teenage years, your outlook shifts more towards the negative side which impacts both your physical and mental health. Grudges are held for longer and feelings such as envy and hatred start building up within us. You lose interest in yourself and are attracted to what others are doing and the latest trends. When you enter adult life, your mindset changes based on how you act towards it. Some people learn to forgive more and let go of pain-causing thoughts and people while changing themselves into caring and compassionate human beings. Nonetheless, there are certain people who just worsen their mindsets just because they aren't ready to let go of jealousy and abhorrence. Other adults change their perspective according to close loved ones whether it be their own children, siblings or parents either by being very protective of their safety and wellbeing or by just being overly paranoid of the dangers of society.

Having a unique perspective isn't a bad thing, in fact, it's what makes you stand out in a crowd. It helps you come together with people who have similar mindsets, have productive discussions and bring about good change, whether it be within yourself or to others. You should have anything but a pessimistic mindset. It will lead you to the destruction of yourself and the people around you. Moreover, it will cause you to feel hopeless and helpless that will slowly start to drain your brain's resources. At times, however, certain stereotypes created by your community, parents and society overall diverts your way of thinking which causes you to close your eyes in certain situations. Due to this, in countries like Pakistan, people are fed wrong information about certain religious minorities such as Christians, Shias, Ahmadis, Hindus and other such groups, which create a never-ending chain of baseless lies. To avoid this, you should keep an open mind and think about a certain stereotype with different approaches to prove to yourself about the wrong effects created from those titles.

Never keep yourself confided in a specific type of thinking and a certain perspective. When you meet more people and understand the kinds of people that walk on this earth, you'll realize all the different kinds of perspectives and will learn from them. Learning from them will help you grow as an individual and create more with what you think.

What about you? How do you think your perspective is? Should you make changes or is it time to make something out of your thoughts?
